4 Easy Ways to Texture Walls

A visit to home improvement stores will highlight the large number of tools available for texturing of walls. Homeowners can be creative and choose from sponges, combs and whisk brooms. With a little practice the desired affect can be achieved or the services of painters in Chicago can be sought. Let’s look at the four steps that need to be kept in mind while texturing.
1. Be Ready For Spills and Paint Drops
Like any normal painting be ready for spills and paint dropping on the floor. Investing in a load of drop cloths before starting texturing is a valuable suggestion from painting contractors in Hinsdale. All surfaces that are not being painted should be covered with cloth or plastic sheets.
2. Application of Drywall Joint Compound
Drywall compound is used to create a finish that looks smooth once the wall dries up. The texturing needs to be started immediately after application of this compound. If the home owner is handling the project alone then application of the compound should be done to one wall at a time.
3. Choose the Texturing Tool
The following tools will create the corresponding look-

Small broom whisk will give the look of grass cloth on the walls

·     A paint comb or a thick hair comb will create vertical lines; choose between thin or thick lines. An S effect can also be created by these.

A thick brush is best used to create circles on the walls.

·        A window cleaner can be used to draw broad vertical lines or boxes in a woven pattern.
